Great Wheel Corporation uses BuildOnline collaboration technology to replicate the London Eye

The Great Wheel Corporation, will use BuildOnline's On-Demand document management and collaboration solution to manage all design and build documents and drive collaboration across teams on the construction projects of at least ten wheels worldwide, including Dubai, Beijing and Berlin.

BuildOnline will enable Great Wheel Corporation to store, track and share designs, drawings, foundation documents, contracts, concepts and financial and operational information.

"Our engineers are based all over the world and are working with independent contractors in numerous countries, and coping with multiple cultures, languages and time zones. Driving effective, secure communication across all these parties is a significant challenge for us," said Stephan Matter, chief executive of the Great Wheel Corporation. "We needed a solution, which was cost-effective and could be deployed quickly and easily, to streamline the flow of information. It had to ensure everyone can access documents and collaborate real-time, across multiple time zones".

"We chose BuildOnline over other solutions on the market because it better suited our role on this project, for its flexibility, 24/7 support and the responsiveness of Customer Support and Professional Services. It also makes it simple for us to have a complete audit trail of communication. Such traceability is particularly important when working on projects funded by investors and banks, and BuildOnline helps us demonstrate accountability," continues Matter.

The Great Wheel Corporation has already started to implement BuildOnline's technology, and approximately 120 users across Dubai, China, Germany, Holland, India and the UK are already using the system. This will increase to 600 users over the next six years.

"Based on the experience during the construction of the London Eye, we will adopt a similar, modular approach but now use better technology to support the process. This solution will provide increased visibility of project progress, helping us avoid delays to ensure we meet deadlines and remain within budget using cost control management. The more the leisure industry uses collaboration and its logic, the more viable global projects of this nature will become," he concluded.

"As a global company, the Great Wheel Corporation needed a solution that could be extended across multiple teams worldwide. Our software platform brings this capability to the market for the first time," said Mark Suster, CEO of BuildOnline. "On such a high profile project, it is imperative that the Great Wheel Corporation is secure in the knowledge that their software partner will deliver on all levels. With our leading-edge solutions, global customer support and proven implementations, we are perfectly placed to deliver this global project."
