Transition from BuildOnline to FusionLive

Monday 3rd May

The parallel running of BuildOnline and FusionLive has been extended to May 15th.

This means, both User Interfaces will remain accessible even though by default users will continue to be redirected to FusionLive after 10 seconds on the login page.

In readiness for this can we ask you to please ensure all your project participants are now able to use FusionLive.

If you have any queries or if you need any help, please contact your local customer support team.

Thursday 22nd April

We are delighted to announce that the majority of the user community is now using FusionLive on a daily basis. More and more users are coming to appreciate the new look, the flexibility and the multi-tasking capabilities of the new system.

To ensure we achieve maximum voluntary take-up however, we have decided to extend the parallel running of BuildOnline and FusionLive for just one more week in order to let everyone achieve an optimum connection to FusionLive.

This means, that next week, both User Interfaces will remain accessible even though by default users will continue to be redirected to FusionLive after 10 seconds on the login page.

The BuildOnline User Interface will however no longer be available after the Week-End of May 1st.

In readiness for this can we ask you to please ensure all your project participants are now able to use FusionLive.

If you have any queries or if you need any help, please contact your local customer support team.

Thursday 8th April 2010

The FusionLive upgrade at the weekend went very well. In addition to updating the database hardware we added the missing BuildOnline functionality (like reports, print or approval filtering) & some bug fixes including (Approval sorting, Search result sorting, Moving documents.

If you have not logged into FusionLive since the release at the weekend we would strongly recommend you to do so to take a look at the new enhancements.

We would encourage those that have not already done so to forward the System Configuration to your IT department. Your IT department needs to ensure that your internet connection is not filtering or slowing down access to FusionLive. In many companies, access to websites “not explicitly identified by IT department” are controlled and not prioritised, which could significantly impact performance.

On April 10th we will be adding an automatic redirection from BuildOnline to FusionLive, this is to encourage users to start using & become familiar with FusionLive before April 24th when BuildOnline will no longer be active.

As always if you have any queries please contact your local support team.

Thursday 25th March 2010 : FusionLive update

As notified in our previous communication, we are planning a further upgrade to FusionLive by April 3rd.

This upgrade will contain :

  • A couple of bug fixes including for instance approval sorting or document moving (if you need to have an update on an issue you have raised, please contact your support team)
  • The remaining missing functionalities such as Reports section and activity print view (see FAQ communicated on Feb 27th)
  • In addition, as scheduled, the database server machines will be upgraded to state of the art technology. This will improve performance on some actions like searches.

Since beginning of March we are delighted to report that more and more users are switching to FusionLive. Some users have however reported performance problems with the new interface. On further investigation we have confirmed that these performance problems are due to some organisations configurations and in particular network configurations not being fully optimised for FusionLive.

It is very important that your IT department ensures that your internet connection isn’t filtering or slowing down access to FusionLive. In many companies, access to websites “not identified by IT department” are controlled and not prioritised, which could significantly impact performance. In order to ensure you enjoy FusionLive at optimum performance levels, we would ask you to please provide your IT organisation with the minimum specifications document that describes the required configuration to use FusionLive and in particular the FusionLive IP address.

In recognition of the above issue, and in order to give you more time to optimise the configuration settings in your environment, we have decided to extend the “Dual UI period” for a couple of weeks. The revised plan being as follows:

    • April 3rd : FusionLive upgrade (bug fixes + remaining missing functionalities + Database servers hardware upgrade)
    • April 10th : Automatic redirection from BOL to FL (except for the customers unable to access FL)
    • April 17th : FusionLive upgrade (remaining minor bug fixes)
    • April 24th : BuildOnline turned off

We hope that the additional 3 weeks of parallel running will help you to manage any internal configuration optimisation successfully and build confidence that any reported issues have been addressed, in order that you may benefit from the advanced user interface FusionLive provides.

If you have any further questions regarding the above please contact your local customer support team.

In addition, please take some time to have a look at this video of FusionLive in action.

Thursday 11th March - It has been almost 2 weeks since FusionLive was made available in parallel to BuildOnline.

We are delighted and encouraged to see more and more users switching to using the new FusionLive interface.

We hope you have appreciated the improved efficiency of having a multi tasking User Interface (for instance, you can easily manage your correspondence, searches and document uploads in parallel without losing any detail when switching windows).

Through this increased usage we have received a lot of feedback from the user community. This feedback is extremely important and valuable to us and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all that have provided input.

All of the items reported have been registered and are being constantly reviewed by our development team. As a result some changes will be implemented in an application patch that will be deployed on Saturday that will address some of the items highlighted.

Another patch is currently scheduled for April 3rd

If you want to know more about the contents of the patch or about FusionLive in general, please contact your support team.

Tuesday 2nd March - BuildOnline and FusionLive update:

Thank you very much for all your interest yesterday in the launch of FusionLive..

As you may already be aware we experienced some initial technical issues due primarily to the unprecedented amount of users wishing to evaluate the new and enhanced features and functions of FusionLive. Unfortunately this caused some issues in performance for customers on both BuildOnline and FusionLive as they are sharing the same live database.

Following some minor adjustments we are now confident that performance is now back to normal.

Having reviewed the issue and listened to your valued input, in order to improve the roll-out of the new user experience FusionLive offers, over the next 4 weeks, the automatic redirection from BuildOnline to FusionLive will be made available under a phased approach. We now plan to display the redirection page to only certain users at a time, therefore if you prefer to use FusionLive by default we would suggest you bookmark the page when redirected.

As established users will already be aware, we are constantly striving to improve both the functionality and performance of our solutions. So whilst as stated previously performance is now back at normal levels, we are pleased to announce that by April, we will have completed a planned upgrade of the database to the latest version of Oracle (11g) with several hardware improvements to match.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience the recent issues may have caused, assure you of our continued dedication to the provision of a world class service and hope that you will now be able to enjoy the benefits of FusionLive.

If you have any other issues, please contact your local customer support team.
